Fairytale: Create & Play

Privacy policy

Updated 24 October 2026

Fairytale: Create & Play is a creative game for children aged 4 to 8, for Android, made by RunicGrid Games ("we"). It's on Google Play and on the Amazon Appstore. This page explains what information the game uses, why, and the choices a grown-up has.

The game has no ads, no analytics, no accounts and no sign-in, and we run no servers for it. Your child's creations are saved only on the device. We receive nothing from the game. On Google Play, Google handles the one optional purchase and the download of the extra content that comes with it, as described below. The Amazon Appstore version has nothing to buy and makes no internet connections at all.

What stays on the device

To play, the game keeps these in its own private storage on the device:

None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. The game turns off Android's app backup, so it is not copied to a backup service either. Uninstalling the game removes it.

The grown-ups' corner

The grown-ups' corner is behind a multiplication question written in words, meant to be too hard for a young child. The purchase is behind it too. There, a grown-up can:

The corner closes by itself after a minute with nothing touched, so it isn't left open when the device is handed back. After three wrong answers the question rests for a minute.

Print & wear

Print & wear lets a child colour a dress on paper and wear it in the game. Every step that leaves the game is for a grown-up, behind the same question:

The game reads the photo on the device to find the colours on the sheet and keeps only the coloured dress. A photo taken through the game is deleted from the game's storage as soon as it has been read (and with "delete all of the game's saved data"); a photo chosen from the gallery stays in the gallery, untouched. If the game is closed while the camera is open, the photo is offered the next time the game is opened, and deleted instead if it's more than half an hour old. The photo is never sent anywhere, by the game or to us. Any copy the camera app or the gallery keeps is managed by those apps, like any other photo on the device. A grown-up's card left untouched for a minute closes by itself.

Spoken words

The game says what things are out loud ("Shoes!"). Most words are recordings that come with the game. Any others are spoken by the device's own text-to-speech, using a voice that runs on the device: the game skips voices that send words away to be spoken. The game only ever gives the speech engine its own fixed words, never anything about your child.

Permissions

The game never asks for a permission: it has no access of its own to the camera, microphone, location, contacts or the device's photos (Print & wear uses the device's own camera app and photo picker, which hand the game only the one photo a grown-up takes or chooses). On Google Play, Google's Play libraries, which the game uses for the purchase and the download, add Android permissions that are granted without asking: internet and network state, the Play billing service, and running a download in the background. The Amazon Appstore version has none of these: it has no internet permission. The game itself makes no internet connections.

The purchase (Google Play only)

The Amazon Appstore version has no purchases.

On Google Play the game is free. One optional purchase, made by a grown-up in the grown-ups' corner, unlocks the whole game for good. Google Play handles it: payment details go to Google, never to the game or to us. The game asks Google Play whether the whole game has been bought, confirms a completed purchase to Google Play, and keeps a note on the device that it's unlocked.

Google Play Billing and Google's own software inside the game may send Google information about the purchase and about how its billing software is working, under Google's terms and privacy policy.

The extra content download (Google Play only)

After the purchase, Google Play downloads the extra content (Play Asset Delivery). To deliver the right files, Google's service processes information about the device and the version of the game. If the device is on mobile data, Google Play may ask a grown-up before downloading. Once it is downloaded, the whole game plays offline.

Read Google's privacy policy.

What we do not do

How long information is kept

We keep none: nothing from the game reaches us. What the game saves stays on the device until a grown-up deletes it in the grown-ups' corner or uninstalls the game. A photo taken for Print & wear is deleted from the game's storage as soon as it has been read. On Google Play, Google keeps its record of the purchase under its own terms, and the information it uses to deliver the extra content for its fixed retention period, after which Google deletes it.

Children

The game is made for children. It has no server of ours that could hold children's information, and everything it saves stays on the device, where a grown-up can delete it. Google's services follow Google's own terms and privacy policy.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the UK GDPR or the EU GDPR), you have rights over personal information about you or your child. We hold none from the game. For information Google processes for purchases and downloads on Google Play, contact Google; for your Amazon account and the Amazon Appstore, contact Amazon. You can also complain to your data protection authority; in the UK, that is the Information Commissioner's Office.

Changes

If the game changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change reaches the game.
